Wow! Thanks for all the comments and feed back! I never realized some of the connections made just with the crocheted part of it. The biggest one that struck me was the reproductive organs... really seems a logical interpretation to come to, and I had never considered that before. Although, the thong and bugle were pretty funny too! As well as the condom...I think it might be pretty painful, though. For anyone wondering about the ceremony aspect, this project was the response to a broad metal raising project (taking a flat sheet of metal and hammering up into a vessel form). The ceremony aspect came from the idea of repetition as ritual (making the same stitch and hammering over and over again) as well as that there is a another copper vessel suspended within the crocheted brass, suggesting that it may be meant to hold or display something relating to ritual or ceremony or precious; the vessel inside the mesh is similar to a goblet without the stem and I had also thought about burning incense or candles in it. Liver of sulfur is a chemical that I applied to the copper to give it areas of various browns and blacks...you can see it mostly on the bottom bowl. If I have failed to answer anything, please let me know.....again, thanks for all the comments and feedback! :)
